India?! no, this is Bangkok!

The hindu temple where it all came out.

A capital for Buddhism Bangkok and its mega temples, palaces and monasteries consecrated to lord Buddha, is with its 9 millon dwellers quite homogenous, but some chinese temples rise here and there and five hindu temples. During the night of october 24th a festival was building up, people where taking their sacred images, mostly bronze statues, from their cars.

And in Thai style the festival Navaratri, dedicated to the Hindu god Durga, at one of the largest hindu temples in Bangkok, Sri Maha Marianman Temple. With a large gathering of gays and lady boys, this festival was colorful, fun and the faces of joy where overwhelming.

As a heavy rain fell during the early stages of the festival, it did nothing to deter the worshipers.

Its loud, musical and crazy even flowers start to fly in the rain.

A few dozen shrines where scattered around the area where they heralded blessings.

worshipers and curious alike flock the streets close to the surasak station in Bangkok.
